The ball dahlia is such a beautiful flower, admired for its rounded shape and the endless layers of petals that curl inward to form a perfect globe. In our Crepe Paper Ball Dahlia workshop, you’ll learn how to recreate that detail in crepe paper step by step. From shaping the petals to layering them for depth and volume, we’ll be with you every snip of the way. As a result, this engaging project not only helps you grow your paper flower skills but also allows you to craft something truly stunning.
Moreover, in the Victorian language of flowers, dahlias symbolize elegance, dignity, and lasting commitment, which made them a favorite for gardens and special celebrations. In particular, the ball dahlia represents harmony and balance, thanks to its beautifully rounded form. So, as the season shifts into fall, it's the perfect flower to celebrate together — a bloom that reflects both beauty and strength.
When finished, your Crepe Paper Ball Dahlias can be displayed in lots of fun ways. For instance, you can arrange a handful in a simple vase to create a show-stopping centerpiece, or mix them with other seasonal blooms for a lush, textured bouquet. Because of their rounded shape, ball dahlias also look wonderful clustered tightly together for a bold, eye-catching display. You might even use a single bloom as a striking accent on a gift or as a keepsake for a special celebration.
Lastly, remember that Member Make workshops are all about the shared experience. It's about crafting side by side, asking questions, and cheering each other on. So, be sure to grab your crepe paper and tools, mark your calendar, and don’t forget to gather your materials beforehand so you’re ready to join in the fun.
Of course, we can’t wait to see how your Crepe Paper Ball Dahlias turn out! So, be sure to share your finished flowers with us using #MemberMake — we absolutely love seeing your beautiful work and watching you inspire makers all over the world.

Leave a CommentI am having a problem working out the site. The print seems to be too light on my phone which is my computer as well. I think I will have to forgo doing the coyrse sadly as I enjoyed it before. I have just bought new glasses which are not working good. Sorry I have been struggling and thankyou for the time yoy have afforded me. Lesley
I will confirm with my development team, but I believe the type is black, just like on all other sites. Have you looked at adjusting the brightness on your monitor and phone? There is also a way to enlarge the text on both your phone and computer in the device settings.
Fabulous. The disc design is pure genius and a gamechanger. So glad I tuned in to the live Member Make, as I couldn’t imagine adding the multitude of petals one at a time. Although a project may seem daunting, Meagan and Lia always break it down beautifully. On days when time is a factor and fingers may be less cooperative, making just these buds and adding them to an arrangements in progress will be a treat.
Thanks for your feedback, Linda! Share photos of your arrangement for sure. 🙂
Looking at the template, the svg doesn’t seem to match what the other file says. For the petals, it looks like there should be two sizes with 36 of each and one with 24, but the svg has 36 of one size and 24 of 2 sizes. Which one is correct? Or am I looking at something wrong?
Thank you for catching this Dawn! The PDF is correct and I have updated the SVG. 🙂

What is the cardstock and pan pastels used for in this flower?
The cardstock will be in the form of small disks, where we attach the petals. You can use any quality. The PanPastel is used to tint the inner petals. This is optional.
Thank you! I’m looking forward to this class!!
See you Friday!
