Crepe Paper Christmas Cactus Member Make Workshop
Crepe Paper Christmas Cactus Member Make Workshop
Merry Cactus!
While maybe not the first plant to pop into your head as we approach the holiday season, you can’t deny the appeal of a quirky yuletide cactus. Plus, there’s something extra special about crafting together in real time, and this month we’re doing just that with our Crepe Paper Christmas Cactus Member Make. This festive little houseplant is full of color, movement, and holiday charm — and it’s a wonderful way to bring in more botanical vibe to your seasonal décor. I’ll be crafting this project live with Meagan on Friday, December 12th at noon PT, and we’d love for you to join us!

This Crepe Paper Christmas Cactus is designed to be a detailed and dimensional crepe paper project. During the live event, we’ll walk you through all the tips and tricks to creating a stunning piece of seasonal decor, and assembling your plant so it drapes beautifully over the edge of a small pot. It’s a fantastic make for crafters who are comfortable with crepe paper basics and ready to spend a bit more time on sculpting and assembly — but confident beginners are welcome to follow along too.
Surprisingly, Christmas cacti actually have a very sweet history. Unlike desert cacti, these beauties are native to the rainforests of Brazil, where they grow on trees and rocks in shaded, humid environments. Over time, they’ve become a beloved winter houseplant due to their tendency to burst into bloom right around holidays. Additionally, these holiday cactus are often passed down through families and can live for decades — a wonderful tradition of community, continuity, and celebration.
Once your crepe paper Christmas cactus is complete, you can display it just like the real thing. Tuck it into a decorative pot, style it on a mantel or shelf, or group it with other paper plants and florals for a lush, festive display.
Regardless of how you choose to show it off, we can’t wait to see your gorgeous Crepe Paper Christmas Cactus. Whether you craft along live or catch the replay — be sure to share your work using the hashtag #MemberMake. Merry Crafting and see you soon!

Leave a CommentThis is one of my favorite plants for winter. Finally got my new art studio in shape enough for me to join and make this. I can’t wait.
Wonderful! See you there!
I’m really excited to make this guy! What size pot would you recommend? Thank you!
Our little pot is 3 inches tall and about 3.25 wide.
How much Extra Fine Ruby Crepe Paper will we need for this project? I don’t see it on the template. Thanks!
We will use it to wrap the tiny wire tip inside each flower. 🙂
Wanted to be sure I had enough on hand. Thank you!
It should work if you have a very small amount. 🙂
I can’t find the tutorial/ instructions for this project.
The template and SVG files are there but there is no tutorial
Am I overlooking it Not looking in the right place???
Hi Sharon! Welcome to our craft community. For our Monthly Member Make Live workshop, we add the tutorial after we film the live workshop. We hope to see you there!
Wishes do come true! I’ve been trying to get my real one to bloom with little progress and thought last week “wonder if Lia would make one?” Can’t wait!!!
Yay!! We have an older version that is also pretty, but this one… Meagan knocked it up a few notches! See you at Member Make. 🙂
