VIDEO: Upcycled Paper Bag Berry Basket
As we celebrate our 10th year of crafting with you, I’m excited to revisit some of my projects from the early days of Lia Griffith. This upcycled paper bag berry basket is definitely one of my favorites. As we approach berry season in Portland, I thought about how handy these sturdy baskets would be at a farmer’s market or for displaying fruit in the kitchen.
Gather your materials from the list below and join me for this month’s “Lia Live” as we make this upcycled berry basket together!

A Tisket, A Tasket, A Super Cute Basket
There have been a lot of requests to make this project on video, and I am very happy to oblige. Despite this basket’s simple design, patience is still necessary when putting it all together. Though it takes some time, it’s so worth it in the long run. 10 years later, my baskets still hold fruit (felt fruit here) and look cute! In addition, I have used my little baskets to hold some craft supplies, and they make a pretty container for the Upcycled Paper Bag Succulents we made in a live video just a few months ago. In my basket video, I’ll show you how to make two versions of this basket ― one with handles and one without.
I love that these berry baskets are made from kraft paper shopping bags. The strong, durable paper is great for carrying heavier items. Their sturdy construction makes them ideal for bringing in veggies from your summer garden. Or they are perfect for filling with felt goodies from our toy collection.

It looks like we accidentally started recording 5 minutes before we started. Click to the 5-minute mark, and it will start soon after that.
Looks fun! Will this be available on replay
Yes, it will!
where do you get craft paper bags?
I use heavy paper grocery bags. I find them at Whole Foods or Trader Joe’s. You can also use butcher paper if your stores do not offer paper bags.
Really looking forward to this one. Thankyou sharing it.
See you on Friday!
