VIDEO: Felt Artichokes

These adorable Felt Artichokes are the second project in our Autumn Colors Craft Summit from October 16-20. Add these yummy-looking veggies to your kiddo's felt garden collection for even more make-believe gardening fun. - Lia Griffith Wool Blend Felt — Lichen (2 sheets)
- Embroidery Floss — DMC Dark Moss Green (580)
- Polyester Fiber Fill — Lia Griffith Stuffie Puff
Over the years, I've developed quite a love for artichokes and have designed a couple of crepe paper versions for previous collections. Whether using paper or felt, what I especially like about crafting these pretty edible flowers — is how easy they are to make! These felt artichokes are very beginner-friendly and a great craft if you're new to embroidery or just want a bit more practice.
The artichoke itself is comprised of a stuffed ball center with leaves overlapped and glued to the exterior. Easy peasy! If you have a little crafter at home, this would make a great project for them as well. We used our lichen green felt, which is heathered for a more textured quality, and our dark moss green embroidery floss to tie it all together.

Oh goodness! It looks like a typo since there are two of step 15. 🙂
I just finished making my first artichoke (also my first Lia Griffith project)! I really appreciated being able to watch the video and work along with it as I’ve had time. I decided to stitch all my leaves. It didn’t really take me that long ( I would do 10 or more while watching other videos) and I like the result. I plan to make a couple more and other felt vegetables.

What is the best way to maintain the fabric mat? Is there a good way to remove the tiny bits of green felt fuzz to keep the mat sticky as possible? The felt cut beautifully!

I show some tips on keeping your mats clean. My favorite is a lint roller. 🙂
