Simply start by gathering the tools and materials listed below and then follow along with Lia’s video or photo tutorial below to learn how to assemble your frosted paper lotus flower. Add your creation to your home or office to remind yourself to take the time to be still and breathe.

For this frosted paper lotus flower, we used frosted metallic text weight paper. We are absolutely in love with this paper for floral paper crafting! It’s offers the perfect thickness to remain firm yet malleable and just enough sheen to add the perfect touch of shimmer — so much more to offer than most cardstocks.  For the FREE patterns head over to PaperPapers.com. 

Instructions

  1. Gather the tools and materials.
  2. Cut out the paper according to the pattern. FREE pattern at PaperPapers.com
  3. Use the art marker to color the top of the petals.
  4. Apply magenta Pan Pastel with paint brush to the petals.
  5. Apply pearlescent red to the petals with a paintbrush.
  6. Spray the petals with matte finish to seal in Pan Pastels. Let dry. Repeat steps  3-6 to the other side of the petals. 
  7. Glue and overlap the two flaps.
  8. Use a curling tool or run paper along the edge of a table to make the petals into a C shape. 
  9. Glue 5 of the same size petals together creating three different layers.
  10. Glue three layers together making sure to stagger petals.
  11. Roll and glue two fringe pieces.
  12. Ruffle the top of the yellow center, then glue to the center of the flower.
  13. Apply green Pan Pastel to the score lines and edges of the lotus pad. Spray matte  finish to the lotus pad to seal in the Pan Pastels.
  14. Fold the lotus pad on score lines, then use a curling tool to curl the edges down.
