In the last post we shared photos and the template for this gorgeous crepe paper flower headband with you and in this post we are sharing the tutorial so that you can make your own! We used a selection of green, coral, orange, pink, white and black crepe papers and built our wreath around a wire frame that we measured to fit before adding the flowers. Our flower templates can be found in our last post, just download and print onto card stock then cut and use as templates for cutting into the crepe papers. Below you will find out step-by-step tutorial which I promise is super-simple! My top tip for working with crepe paper would be to use your fingers to stretch and manipulate the petals and leaves to create a more realistic look. You can form really beautiful cup shapes by gently spreading the grain of the paper apart in the middle or create a delicate frill to the edges of your petals by stretching the edges very carefully. Both techniques add a realistic look to your blooms but also add depth and dimension creating a beautiful full flower headband. If you are inspired to make your own crepe paper flower head wreath, do share pictures of it with us either in the comments below or via Instagram, Facebook or Twitter using the #madewithlia hashtag. Enjoy! ~ Lia

Leave a CommentDoes the paper need to be sealed in any way to be waterproof etc if being worn outside?
Hi Fiona! You could try a matte spray fixative to help protect, but I would recommend keeping this as dry as possible.
Hi, Im writting from Czech republic and I just fall in love with your website. Love all your creations. I have one question. I would like to ask which gauge of these wires you used for this incredible lovely crown ?
Thank you
Thank you!! 18-20 gauge wire will work.
Could you make a video of this tutorial please? I don’t know how to attach the leaves on the crown. I found it a little difficult to stick the leaves on the wire while making the crown.Would love it if you could show it in a step by step video tutorial!
Thanks!
Hi Saira! We are working on making more videos, it is just more time consuming and a tad bit expensive to make one for every post 😉
Are you using the 180 grams crepe paper?
For this one I did. However I do prefer the extra fine crepe paper for flower making. If you try you will definately notice the difference. Extra fine crepe hasn’t been available on the US market but will be sold on Amazon starting in June under the Lia Griffith brand. Squeel!!!
Dear Lia,
I am writing from Peru.
Thank you for share your work, it’s amazing every flower you make.
Hello Carol and Hello Peru, thank you for your sweet comment:-)
I cant find the printable for the flowers. I want to make this crown for my baby shower, Thanks for your help.
The template is included in a previous post here: https://liagriffith.com/diy-crepe-paper-flower-headband/
I also like the beautiful colors!!
Thanks Liesbeth!
Thanks Stacia! We did have fun making this. 🙂
It is a fun one and the flowers can be used for different projects too. They are so lovely. 😉
Love this! Where do you get your crepe paper? I find it very difficult to find other than in rolls (like for streamers).
