Simple Paper Anemone
Hello everyone! If you haven’t already noticed with my Papier Couture collection, paper crafting is a real passion of mine. In addition to the paper dresses, I absolutely love to make paper flowers. Today I am going to be sharing some of my favorite paper flowers that I created in the last year for another site. I’ll also be adding a new paper flower printable and tutorial every month. The anemone is my favorite flower I have made up to now. The funny thing is . . . it seems that every new flower becomes my favorite! Does this mean they just keep getting better? I am fine-tuning my paper flower skills.

The Original Anemone
The anemone, as odd as the name sounds, is a lovely delicate flower that has become a bridal bouquet favorite. They come in many colors, the pale pink and white being the most common for weddings, as the delicate petals and the black centers mirror the wedding gown and tuxedo. I see many people call it a poppy which makes me wonder if they might be related somehow. I will have to Google that one. Members can download the PDF pattern and step-by-step photo tutorial at the end of this post. Not a member yet? Join us today! Enjoy! ~ Lia & Team

Leave a CommentI love these paper flowers! I used the template with red cellophane to make rose flowers- I had to use about 50% more petals because the cellophane was thin, but in the end, they came out gorgeous! Thank you so much for sharing!
That’s great! We’d love to see a photo if you want to share: hello@liagriffith.com
So beautiful, it looks so real!
I create dreamcatchers for my eshop but i was wondering if i have the right to decorate them with your diy…? (want to ask for your permission first…)
Thank you so much for asking Aline! I am so happy to hear you like these flowers 🙂 My designs are for personal use only, so you cannot resell the finished products in any way. I really appreciate that you took the time to clarify this!
Lia how do you get them to be wider? mine cup up too much.
Good question! For the step where you overlap and glue the three flaps of the base of the petal, just try gluing those pieces a bit looser. That should make the flower cup up less. I hope this helps!
Absolutely love these paper flowers – so lovely and your photos are amazing. Added your tutorial link to my blog on anemone flowers:

Thanks Annie! Gorgeous post. 😉
Hola! Hemos añadido tus anémonas de papel en un post recopilatorio que hemos hecho en nuestro blog, puedes verlo en 15 Flores para hacer con manualidades
Muchas gracias por la idea, es genial!
Thank you for the link back love!
This is a great tutorial and the flower was so easy to make. Thank you! I need to make white anemones with black center for a wedding and was wondering if you had a file with just the shapes that I could use in my silhouette? TIA!!
Hi Joy, Congratulations on your upcoming wedding! Love anemones at weddings! Unfortunately I made this pattern before I got my Cricut Explorer so I didn’t make a svg file I handcut mine. Sorry!
Thanks !!!!
You are so welcome!
Merci et bravo pour ce joli tutorial !
Thanks!
Hi, I’m in love with your flowers. What kind of paper did you use for the Anemones ? Thanks
I printed onto a regular printer paper with a laser printer on both sides. My printable pattern includes the color washed pink and black. I try to make it super easy for you. 😉
Thanks so much Lia, the template and how to are so clear and helpful. No matter how many of your flowers I will make I try to follow your steps the way you show them. I tend to get impatient and skip steps but not with your excellent instructions so they’ll turn out nicely. Great tutorials and templates on all your flowers and other posts, Now on to more of your breath taking flowers.
Thanks JaneEllen! I am making some from crepe paper next week!!
Thank you so much for these amazing paper flower tutorials! I have so far tried the roses, gardenia, orchid and apple blossoms and these anemones!! I printed them on Vellum paper and made 1 anemone so far. It is so delicate and beautiful, and the slight transparency of the vellum makes the petals extra beautiful! :))
That sounds so pretty! I just posted a tissue version of the anemone which made it look a tad transparent too.
hello lia!
thank you very much for posting your absolutely lovely flowers & templates, that’s very generous of you!
I would so love to make the anemones, but unfortunately can’t print the template. I was able to print the tulips, but sadly not the anemones, so I’m not sure whether that has to do with my computer or not – have you any idea?? please advise! thank you –
all the best, warm regards,
stephie
Did you download the template onto your computer first them open the PDF in Acrobat? I think that will do the trick. If not let me know and we will figure it out.
thank you, lia, for your response. yes, I had downloaded it onto my computer first etc, but until today it hadn’t worked.so your email must have done the trick!
I am so thrilled with your tutorials and the beautiful flowers – I’ve made several of them. the roses and gardenias I especially love!and I will be making the feathers, too…
kindest regards, stephanie
Wonderful! So happy it works for you now.
This is amazing!
Thanks Amanda!
Hi Lia, I stumbled upon your website via Pinterest. Thank you for this tutorial – I thought they were poppies too! It is exactly what I was looking for, though I may try them in white/black! I can’t stop looking at the other tutorials, they are inspiring and will be so beautiful to make!
So happy you found it! Yes, they look gorgeous in white too. I also have an orange poppy template. https://liagriffith.com/make-some-paper-poppies/
These look, really beautiful.
Thank you again for the tutorial.
Dagmar

Yes, since the Ellinee no longer exists. . . I have put the download into this post. 🙂 Thanks for pointing it out.

Sure! There are many more to come. I just followed you, btw. Love your ideas on your site. 😉
Aw thanks! I appreciate the follow and I have done the same in return. You’re the best! ~M.
These are amazing!!! I found your project via Pinterest and am SOOOOO glad I did. I love this and can’t wait to try making them this weekend!
Thanks Pinterest! Let me know how they go. 🙂
I would have thought of these as poppies too. They’re beautiful, and your tutorial is so clear. I think I’m going to get brave and try my hand at them. Thanks!
I am thinking that poppies and anemones must be related somehow. They are very similar. More paper poppies on the way too. 😉
As usual, your tutorial ia always amazing. The flowers just look fantastic. Thanks.
Thanks Edna. More fabulous paper flowers coming… 🙂
