They are known for their wool felt art and craft. His mother brought back traditional Kyrgyz dolls- which feature a needle felted head with embroidered facial detail (mouth, eyes), and a double layer of thick felt (maybe 3mm?) sewn to make clothing. I would love to see a pattern for these! I have wanted to make them ever since I saw them. You can see photos of an example here:

Striations in the pumpkin can be further emphasized with string, jute, or embroidery floss.
