We love these Felt Seahorse Suffies because they’re easy enough to stitch by hand for both adults and kiddos. These were so fun to design, and we really tried to nail down the natural texture of seahorses with pretty seed beads and faux pearls. When you’re ready to get started, just gather the rest of your tools and materials, and let’s dive in!
Seahorses are super well-known for their horse-like faces and long curly tails. But because seashores are such poor swimmers, that long prehensile tail is perfect for anchoring them to long tufts of sea grass so they don’t drift away with the tide. In crafting this sweet Felt Seahorse Stuffie, we hope to get your creativity flowing, with a soft reminder to stay grounded.
Another wonderful aspect of this project comes in its versatility. While we used vibrant perriwinkle and coral to create our Felt Seahorse Stuffies — you’re free to use whatever nautical-inspired colors you’d like. You can craft just one or create a colorful shoal (that’s a group of seahorses, by the way), to dazzle the future marine biologist in your life. Pair these sweet seaside babies with our Felt Clams and Hammerhead Shark to add some under-the-sea fun to your stuffie collection.
Whatever you decide, we’d love to see your beautiful work, so be sure to share your pictures with us in our crafters’ community or tag us on social media with #MadeWithLia.

Thank you so much
You are so welcome!
Is there an SVG file I can us on the felt seahorse?
The SVG has been added 🙂
Can these be cut out on a Sihlouette machine? I can’t figure out how to import a pdf to my online library, is there a way to get a jpeg or any suggestions this is all a bit new for me.
Hi Kate! Our SVG files can be used on the Silhouette if you have the Designer Edition of their software (because the files need to be converted to .Studio files). Unfortunately we don’t use the Silhouette in house so we don’t have any more information than that, but hopefully if you reach out to their customer service, they can help you!
Lia can I print this on a cricket? I finally got one today and need some sea animals for school. thank you Libby
Hi Libby, the Cricut doesn’t print, only cuts. The Explore Air machines will cut felt if the material is stabilized first, and the Maker will cut it nicely using a fabric mat. I hope that helps!
I’m wondering about scale. I created a mermaid and I’m wondering if your sea creatures would be the right scale. What approximate size are your sea creatures? Thank you
They are about 6.5″ tall. 🙂
Can you pleaes tell me where you get your felt and what kind of felt this is? It looks so clean!
For this project we used 100% wool felt from Felt on the Fly because the colors are gorgeous and really bright! The colors we used were: watermelon, baby pink, and sea green. The body of the green seahorse is a wool blend color called “julep” from Benzie.
I love these so cheerful and something l can do bedridden..thank you can’t wait to start..Nancy
You’re so welcome Nancy, take care! 🙂
When I print the pattern and material list and instructions only the pattern is visible. The material list and instructions is a black page with hot pink titles and all else is black and I can see nothing to read???
Make sure you download the PDF to your desktop and are NOT just viewing it in a web browser, as that sometimes doesn’t download all the information properly.
These are so adorable! I am a really dear friend of Lacey Hudson I took care of her when she was a baby. She has been telling me about you and how talented you are for a long time. She sent me a selfie from JoAnns the other day pointing at your new line of kits. I am so happy for you. Good luck, from what I can see you are going to be very successful!
Thank you Denise! Lacey is such a supportive friend and I’m so thankful she told you about my site 🙂
I have forgotten my password. …. Hi Andrea! I’m sorry, there has been some confusion over this but subscribing to our newsletter isn’t the same as having a paid membership. If you have a membership and can’t login, please send an email to hello@liagriffith.com and Stephanie will look into it for you!
