Though this Crepe Paper Brown Eyed Susan is an intermediate level craft, it's perfect for any crafter ready to stretch their skills. In order to create your Crepe Paper Prairie Glow Brown Eyed Susan, you’ll work with petal shaping, layering, and assembly techniques to bring a realistic touch to your crepe paper flowers. Fine crepe paper is ideal here, due to its stretch and texture, which capture the Brown Eyed Susan’s delicate form. With a little patience and attention to detail, your blooms will look as though they were gathered straight from a late-summer meadow.
The Brown Eyed Susan holds a special place in American gardens and landscapes. Native to North America, it’s often associated with encouragement and justice, symbolizing motivation and the positive energy to keep moving forward. And I don't know about you, but I love the idea of crafting myself a little reminder to stay motivated and to stick to it, no matter what "it" may happen to be.
Once your Crepe Paper Brown Eyed Susans are complete, there are so many ways to style them. For instance, you can place a few in a vase on their own, or combine them with a few other fall florals for a seasonal twist on a bouquet. The best part? Their sunny golden tones make them versatile enough to transition from late summer straight through Thanksgiving.
Of course we can’t wait to see your version of the Crepe Paper Prairie Glow Brown Eyed Susan! So remember to share your finished flowers with us on social media using the hashtag #MadeWithLia, or post them in our crafters’ community to show and receive a little crafty love.

@Rebecca
Back to the TopSorry it’s not the leaves that are so wide at bottom it’s the petals. Yours also look like they are made out of heavy crepe paper.
Hi Rebecca, Step 12 is an important one in getting the petal to its final shape. The 2 seams made with glue create stability and make the base of the petal smaller. You can always use your creative freedom to make our designs work better for you!
