VIDEO: Our Favorite Pinecone Owls
A Hoot of a Project!
Throwback Thursday! These little pinecone owls are still an all-time favorite amongst our crafting community. We recently created an Instagram video to celebrate their adorableness. So simple and fun to make, we hope this video inspires you to try crafting a few of your own! With the release of the all-new Cricut Maker, we decided to create a set of SVG cut files to accompany this popular project. We hope you enjoy this hoot of a project!

Leave a Commentwhat size pincones should I buy?
Thanks!!
Ours were about 5 inches tall, but if you get larger ones you can enlarge the template.
Thx!!
Hi! i am looking for crafts to do with remote kids via zoom. Is there a way to do with without a glue gun? Many thanks!
You could try Aleene’s Tacky Glue (the Fast Grab works well with felt). I’m not so sure how well the felt would stick to the pinecone though. You could use something else, like a cotton spun or paper mache egg (https://www.hobbylobby.com/Crafts-Hobbies/Painting-Surfaces/Paper-Mache/Paper-Mache-Eggs/p/134173?gclid=CjwKCAiAkan9BRAqEiwAP9X6UYH_hX8-2n5blFuiSvJN6_B1_sxP15oscGix6fT4NJvIequBlLQj7BoC6X8QAvD_BwE)!
so I’m guessing that I cannot print out a template unless I am a member. are there any felt crafts where i could get the templates without being a member
Hi Mary! Correct, you will need to become a member for this project in particular (I have to keep the lights on and pay my employees somehow 😉 ) But we do have plenty of freebies! https://liagriffith.com/craft/freebies/
Hi, I am having a really difficult time trying to open this file. Any suggestions? I have watched several You tube videos to no avail.
Thanks,
Katy
Hi Katy! Can you send a message to hello@liagriffith.com with more details about the trouble you’re having?
Hey I’m totally new at this – do you keep the paper and stick the cloth on to it? And then stick that on the cone?
Hi! No, use the paper as your template to cute the shapes from felt, then dispose of the paper.
What size pine cones do you recommend for this?
Ours are 3-3.5″ tall
