Spring is a season of renewal, of quiet magic taking root beneath the surface before bursting into bloom. If youāve ever walked through a forest after the rain, you know that feelingāthe air rich with possibility, the ground alive with unseen connections.
And if you look closely, you might spot something special: mushrooms emerging, like tiny wonders waiting to be discovered.
Crafting, like foraging, is about slowing down and noticing the magic in small things. Itās about working with your hands, shaping something delicate and beautiful, and allowing the creative process to lead you somewhere unexpected. Thatās the heart of our newest mini master class: Craft Your Own Magical Paper Mushroom Fairy Garden.
In this mini master class, I will guide you through the five steps to create a lifelike and whimsical crepe paper mushroom and butterfly fairy garden, tucked under a glass cloche like a piece of an enchanted forest. Whether you're an experienced crafter or just starting out, this project invites you to experiment with texture, shape, and color, transforming simple crepe paper into something truly magical.
This class is perfect for nature and fantasy lovers alike and inspired by real woodland mushrooms and their delicate, whimsical environment. This project truly brings a touch of the wild indoors!
Crafting is a meditative process, and this class is designed to help you slow down and enjoy the journey.
Through four step-by-step video lessons, together we'll create pink amanita mushrooms, two fairy inkcap mushrooms, butterflies, and some adorable pink ladybugs atop a patch of wild poppy grass!
By the end, you'll have a magical paper mushroom fairy garden to add a touch of Spring to your home, and feel confident that even beginners can create something magical!
As we celebrate the magic of Spring, I invite you to take a moment to reflect on how far youāve come creatively. As the forest awakens from winterās frost, so do we, emerging into a new season of growth and possibility.

Leave a CommentIs the PDF tutorial available?
This is a video only project.
Totally fair! Thanks for making such a cool project!
I DONT SEE A SMALL PATTERN FOR THE SMALL MUSHROOM AND I HEARD ON THE VIDEO IAM TO CUT OUT 3? SHOULD i JUST CUT OUT 1?
If you look at the PDF template, you will see two shapes on the honeycomb illustration. The one that says “fairy” is the small mushroom. It says to cut 6 for the 2 mushrooms, so 3 each. If you are looking at the SVG, it will not include the honeycomb templates, because this material can not be cut with a machine.
no pdf tutorial?
It is coming! š
Silly question for you, are these designed on actual real mushrooms?
Do you mean, do I look at the mushrooms and design from the real version? Yes, as best as I can while still keeping it simple enough for anyone to make. š
I can’t wait to make this. Thank you! Such a cute project!
Share photos of your finished garden! š
This was so much fun! Great therapy. Thank you for doing this.
It is great therapy! I am so happy you enjoyed it.
Love the class I am so looking forward to adding to my collection.
Yay! This makes me so happy to hear.
Hi do you need specific honey comb paper?
Yes, you can find a link to the honeycomb in the right-hand column.
I am having trouble getting the file into SVG for my Cricut. It wants me to download the older (red cap) mushroom file. Please help this older lady. I need a head start as much as I can to get these cut. I have tremors so cutting them out by hand is out. Thanks for all the help.
MeChell
Hello Mechell. I have added the SVG for you. It is a good idea to look at the PDF to see which pieces must be pre-stretched before cutting. The small pieces, the butterfly, and the tiny flowers are pre-stretched. I have not cut any of this out with the cutting machine, so I am curious if it is going to work. Keep me posted. š
Yes it does work with the cricut. I didn’t want to cut out the tiny pieces by hand so I stretched some scrap pieces of the crepe paper and put them on the mat and they cut just great. I did cut the bigger block pieces and the skirt by hand. Now I’m just waiting for the mod podge to dry so I can finish this. I did notice that the butterfly in svg file is honeysuckle but in the picture it’s mango. I would have preferred to have it mango so there would be a contrast to make it show up better and not blend in. If I make a 2nd mushroom I’ll change the color before I cut it out.
Ah, I need to go in and fix that. Originally it was pink, but just like you discovered, the mango looks better as it pops.
will we be getting the svg ahead of time to prep? Was looking for them and I do not see them.
Thanks
The template is now there for you, but only a PDF since this is not a project you want to cut on a machine. I will talk more about it on Friday in the class.
thanks, can hardly wait
Is there a pattern download so that I know how much paper is needed? I think I have enough heavy crepe left over from a previous project but am not certain.
Yes, it is there now. This project takes very little crepe, and you can mix up colors. š
Is there a template to cut the pieces before hand?
Yes! It is there now.
Will this workshop be available to replay for members? Iām so excited to make this!
Yes, it will!
Well I found the Easter basket with grass – I may just try modifying that grass. Too long for what I want to do. Will give it a try – sorry for all the messages!
Message anytime! š
Looking forward to this! Is the grass any where else on your site? I made the mini bunnies and would love to put them in between some grass – for the grandnieces. Went a bit crazy as they are already getting the felt (on your site paper) flower headbands. Also making the bunny bag and maybe putting a couple of decorated spun ball eggs inside. Just having fun!
I LOVE to hear this! This is a “new” version of the grass, but I just cut fringe from heavy crepe paper, clipped their tips at an angle, and rolled the grass between my hands to twist. Quite simple.
Thanks Lia! I think the mushroom project is fabulous and there are so many other possibilities for it. Some little animals in the grass – I think I will try a needle felted kitty in grass for my sister in law in Iowa who loves kitties.
So cute! I was really surprised at how much I like the grass and how good it looks.
I’m so happy you’re going to show us how to make these mushrooms. I tried before by following the tutorial but I just couldn’t get it to work out. Yay!
I look forward to sharing my tips with you. I have added a new step that I think will really help make them easier.
Will there be a video of this mushroom Craft. I will be traveling on April 25. Thanks
Yes! We will have a replay for you!
